Plates of Nephi are plates Nephi gave “the name of Nephi” and used for “a full account of the history of my people” (1 Nephi 9:2). Nephi said the other plates would contain reigns, wars, and contentions, while “these plates are for the more part of the ministry” (1 Nephi 9:4).
A speaker told his sons that the plates of Nephi contained “the records and the sayings of our fathers from the time they left Jerusalem until now” (Mosiah 1:6). A speaker commanded that a record of the people be kept “upon the plates of Nephi” and that the things previously kept be held sacred (Alma 37:2).
Mormon took the plates of Nephi and made a record as Ammaron had directed (Mormon 2:17). Mormon wrote “a full account of all the wickedness and abominations” upon the plates of Nephi (Mormon 2:18).
