Reign of the Judges is the period that commenced “throughout all the land of Zarahemla” among the people called Nephites, with Alma as “the first and chief judge” (Mosiah 29:44).
The people were to choose judges “by the voice of this people” and be judged according to laws given by their fathers (Mosiah 29:25). Higher judges could be judged by a small number of lower judges gathered according to the voice of the people (Mosiah 29:29).
