Seon is a gold denomination in the Nephite system of reckoning. The gold scale comprised “a senine of gold, a seon of gold, a shum of gold, and a limnah of gold” (Alma 11:5).
A seon’s amount was “twice the value of a senine,” placing it immediately above the senine in the scale (Alma 11:8). The next denomination was also defined by doubling: “a shum of gold was twice the value of a seon” (Alma 11:9).
