Architectural opening and figure for blessing

Window

Window is an opening represented literally in a vessel and figuratively in promises concerning a city and heaven. The Lord promises to make “thy windows of agates,” together with gates of carbuncles and borders of pleasant stones (3 Nephi 22:12).

In a promise about tithes, the Lord of Hosts says he will “open you the windows of heaven” and “pour you out a blessing” too great to receive (3 Nephi 24:10).

Windows could not provide light in the Jaredite barges. The Lord told the brother of Jared, “ye cannot have windows, for they will be dashed in pieces,” and fire could not be taken into the vessels (Ether 2:23). Stones placed in the vessels instead “did give light unto the vessels” (Ether 6:2).
