Lamoni's Flocks

Lamoni’s Flocks are the king’s animals watched by servants “according to the custom of the Lamanites.” Ammon became a servant to king Lamoni (Alma 17:25).

After three days in the king’s service, Ammon and the Lamanitish servants drove the flocks to the water of Sebus, where “all the Lamanites drive their flocks hither, that they may have water.” Men who had watered their own flocks scattered Lamoni’s animals, and the servants said, “Behold, our flocks are scattered already” (Alma 17:26-28).

Ammon led the servants in gathering the flocks back to the water and instructed them, “Encircle the flocks round about that they flee not.” After driving away the men who sought to scatter them, Ammon and the servants watered the flocks and “returned them to the pasture of the king” (Alma 17:31-39).
